The Winter School takes place at the Bamberg Graduate School of Social Sciences (BAGSS), Feldkirchenstraße 21, 96052 Bamberg. The Winter School office is in the main foyer on the ground floor. Campus map.
There is a large mensa close to the main building which serves hot and cold food. There is also a small cafetaria inside the Mensa. Both offer discounted prices, if you use your Bamberg ID card. There are also vending machines on the ground floor for drinks and snacks. Opposite the main building there is a bakery/cafe and a small supermarket/deli. Please note that the mensa is closed at weekends and on Sundays most of the shops/establishments are closed.

You can access free Wi-Fi on campus using Eduroam or the Winter School's own network, which will be detailed on the back of your participant badge.
The Tourist Information office is located right in the city centre, next to the Bar “Aposto”, Geyerswörthstraße 5, 96047 Bamberg (social gathering on the first night of Winter School!). The opening hours are Monday to Friday 09:30-18:00, Saturday 09:30-16:00 and Sunday 09:30-14:30. For more information, please see their website http://en.bamberg.info/?forceLanguage.
If you are a citizen of a country in the European Union, you do not need a Visa to enter Germany. Citizens from Australia, Canada, Israel, Japan, New Zealand, Norway and the USA (plus many other coutries) do not require to a Visa, if your stay does not exceed 90 days. We suggest you check the current visa requirements for you country on the German Foreign Ministry website.
Most banks are open from 09:00-16:00 on weekdays. They are generally closed on Saturdays and Sundays, but cash machines can be accessed at most branches at any time. There is a vestibule opposite the main building, next to the bakery.

Plugs - Standard European socket with two-pin plugs.
In restaurants and bars it is usual to tip around 10-15% if you are happy with the service. However, tipping is uncommon in hotels.
