The local organising team at the University of Bamberg have negotiated special rates for Winter School participants at a number of locations in the city. From luxury hotels and self-catering apartments, to a high standard youth hostel and budget hotels; there should be an option for every taste and budget. The list of participating locations is below:

Backpackers Bamberg is an independent, small and cosy hostel situated right between Bamberg central station and the city centre, offering good connections to the faculty and only a short walk to the city centre. There is free Wi-Fi and a basic breakfast (tea, coffee and cereals) is included.

Jugendgästehaus am Kaulberg is the main hostel in Bamberg, situated at the edge of the city centre, close to the Cathedral and most of the medieval areas. Opened in 2011 and fully renovated, the offer includes breakfast and free Wi-Fi. The bus stop to the ZOB is right opposite the main entrance.

They will require your name, address, telephone number, email address, gender, preferred room type, arrival/departure date/time. An 80% deposit must be paid in advance. Please inform them if you expect to arrive late.
There is no booking deadline, but the offer is subject to availability, so early booking is highly recommended. Rooms are only available from Sunday 5 March 2017 onwards (main courses).

Hotel Weierich hotel is situated right in the middle of the UN World Heritage centre and close to the river Regnitz. The famous baroque Old Town Hall, Little Venice and the lively Sandstraße and Austraße are very close, offering a range of bars, cafés and clubs. Bus timetables to the faculty vary, either just outside the hotel with one change, or a five-minute walk to the central bus stop ZOB for a direct connection. A bus from the central bus station (ZOB) to the faculty takes from five to 15-minutes, depending on the service. There's one express service (931), a few normal ones (901, 907, 914) and a slower one, driving a non-direct route (915).

Altstadthotel Molitor hotel is situated at the edge of the famous historic centre, right next to the river Regnitz, this hotel offers a more calming atmosphere. The vast Hain park, bar and café district and the central bus station ZOB (where you can catch a direct bus to the faculty), are only a five-minute walk away. The bus from the central bus station (ZOB) to the faculty takes from five to 15-minutes, depending on the service. There's one express service (931), a few normal ones (901, 907, 914) and a slower one driving a non-direct route (915).
Stadthotel Andres is situated in a quiet street just a two-minute walk from the central train station. It’s about a 15-minute walk to the city centre and about 20 minutes to the faculty. A bus to the faculty from the train station only takes about three-minutes. Shops, a bank and a post office are all very close.

Hotel Alt Bamberg is situated right in the middle of the World Heritage city centre; with restaurants, cafés, bars, shops, a post office and different ATM’s just around the corner. The central bus station and a small supermarket are only a two-minute walk away. If you feel like a pleasant walk, you can follow the canal (two minutes on foot) to the Hain park and enjoy Bamberg’s pleasure grounds.

Hotel Central is in a refined Bavarian-style property, only a three-minute walk from the very heart of Bamberg. From the central station (distance approx. 1.5km, 20-minute walk) a taxi to the Hotel Central costs around €6.00. You can also use all bus lines opposite the railway station square in the direction of the ZOB (central bus station). At the central bus station, get off and walk for about 150m and you’re there.

Hotel Sandstern is in the heart of Bamberg’s nightlife district, and minutes from some of the city’s most famous sights including the Cathedral, the Abbey, the main market place Green Market, the Old Town Hall and Little Venice. You can enjoy a variety of Bamberg’s beer culture just outside the hotel in one of the ‘tied houses’ or enjoy a coffee at one of the cafés just across the lower bridge over the river Regnitz. The central bus station ZOB is only a 10-minute walk where you can catch a direct bus to the faculty.
