Our Standing Group on Kantian Political Thought is delighted to return to the ECPR headquarters for its Annual Jean-Jacques Rousseau Lecture and Conference, comprising two fascinating events.

About

Since 2008, the Jean-Jacques Rousseau Lectures and Conferences have been held annually to honour the Swiss-born philosopher, writer and composer and his enduring impact on political philosophy and moral psychology.

The 2023 instalment is proudly organised by our Standing Group on Kantian Political Thought with the Keele-Oxford-St Andrews Kantian (KOSAK) Research Centre. Held in conjunction with the Winter School of the Standing Group on Kantian Political Thought, it comprises two events that promise to push the boundaries of philosophical discourse.

20 – 21 November
  • Keynote lecture on External Freedom and the Idea of the General United Will in Kant by Katrin Flikschuh, London School of Economics
  • Conference on Kant and Rousseau
24 – 25 November
  • Keynote lecture on Political Legitimacy, Rationality and Morality by Rainer Forst, Goethe University Frankfurt
  • Invited presentations on Rainer’s academic work
  • Conference focused on four papers by Rainer, including Solidarity, Trust, Justice and Kantian Constructivism

Secure your spot to join these thought-provoking discussions that bring together leading scholars and thinkers to explore the rich philosophies of Rousseau and Kant!
