The Politics of Interdependence

The 2018 ECPR Summer School on International Relations focuses on the political forces shaping patterns of global interdependencies as well as the political consequences that derive from them. While early research on interdependence has been mostly connected to the economic sphere, the intensification of global problems of the like of climate change and international migration has reinvigorated a research agenda that investigates clashes between different levels of government, institutions and rules.

The ECPR Summer School on International Relations provides encompassing courses on various aspects of the politics of interdependence, by capturing the old and new aspects of the concept. Through a variety of courses taught by renowned IR scholars, students will learn about research on the politics of interdependence at the forefront of IR from various theoretical and methodological perspectives. The summer school offers advanced training in the latest theoretical approaches and cutting-edge quantitative and qualitative methods applied in IR. It encompasses a wide range of issue areas whose functioning is affected by global interdependencies such as economic relations, security and monetary unions. In addition, the Summer School will connect students to an international forum of researchers and enable them to build an academic network with other junior and senior scholars in IR. Students will have the opportunity to present and discuss their own research to get feedback from the instructors and the other students.

Registration fees

The fees for the 2018 SGIR Summer School are €350 per participant.  The fee will cover participation costs, lunches and accommodation for the duration of the Summer School (check-in Sunday 17 June, check-out Saturday 23 June).
